With the help of local donations made by generous people – including businesses, decorators, home stagers, contractors and homeowners – we support Habitat for Humanity’s work and mission throughout our region. Proceeds of every sale go towards building affordable homes and revitalizing neighborhoods in our community. Thanks to our committed volunteers, we are able to provide affordable home improvement items and furniture to local families, while diverting usable materials from local landfills each year.

Why shop at Habitat ReStore?

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

By shopping, donating, or volunteering at Habitat ReStores, you help keep quality, usable home improvement items out of local landfills and help us build more decent, affordable housing in Southern Adirondacks and around the world.

What can I find?

Habitat ReStores sell new and gently used appliances, cabinets, doors, flooring, furniture, hardware, lighting and fans, lumber, paint, plumbing, roofing and gutters, wall coverings, windows and screens.

Donations arrive daily, so you’ll always find something new!

What can I donate?

We accept donations (from businesses and individuals) of: appliances, cabinets, doors, flooring, furniture, hardware, lighting, lumber, plumbing, roofing and gutters, wall coverings, windows and screens. Please see details below before donating because we don’t take everything!

Antiques

  • Jewelry, furniture, knick-knacks, tools

Art

  • Art of all types and value

Building materials

  • Kitchen cabinets, doors, windows, plumbing, vanities, electrical, wood products, lighting, hardware, tools

NO USED TOILETS

Furniture

  • Dressers, night stands, end tables, coffee tables, kitchen and dining tables, buffets, bookshelves, desks, and drafting tables

Upholstered items

  • Sofas, recliners, love seats, club chairs, ottomans/area rugs – We accept items in excellent to new condition.

NO rips, stains, pet hair, smoke odors, fading or cracking of leather.

Displays and fixtures

  • Racks, shelving, display cases, mannequins

Houseware items

  • Dishes, glassware, pots & pans, utensils, general home goods, bound area rugs

Appliances

  • Gently used and clean – Refrigerators, freezers, cook tops, microwaves, washing machines, dryers, stoves, range hoods, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and vacuums.

Appliances must be clean and in full and complete working order. We cannot accept appliances older than 10 years.

Kitchen and Bath Cabinets

  • We accept clean cabinets and vanities in good to excellent condition. We also take thoroughly cleaned sinks
  • Uncut laminate counter tops
  • Granite counter tops

Home Decor/Housewares/Media

  • Pots, pans, dishes, glassware, knick-knacks, artwork, coffee table books, records, dvds. All items should be clean and in new or gently used condition
  • Table/floor lamps
  • Seasonal holiday decor

Building Supplies

  • Interior and exterior residential light fixtures – must be in complete working order
  • We accept windows & doors in gently used to new condition
  • New/never used wood flooring and tile
  • New bathtubs & shower enclosures
  • New in the box shower doors
  • New/never used kitchen/bath fixtures

Hardware and Tools

  • Full boxes or unopened hardware
  • Hand and power tools in new or good condition
How do I donate?

We are do curbside donation pick up of larger items. All donations need to be in a garage, on a porch or put outside on the day of the donation.

What can I NOT donate?

  • Advertising items. Such as cups, pens, note pads
  • Any type of flooring made in China (due to formaldehyde)
  • Anything that doesn’t work or is dirty, stained, chipped, or broken
  • Appliances over 10 years old
  • Baby items, toys, playground equipment
  • Bathroom sink faucets
  • Carpet remnants
  • CDs, VHS tapes
  • Clothing, linens, bedding
  • College/School Text Books
  • Computer, fax and copy equipment
  • Corded blinds
  • Cribs
  • Dishwashers, used hot water heaters, and faucets
  • Electrical items that have been altered in any way
  • Encyclopedia Collections
  • Entertainment Centers
  • Furnaces
  • Garage Doors
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Herbicides, fertilizers, chemicals
  • Household Electronics: TVs, DVD players, VCRs, computer monitors/towers, keyboard/mouse, printers, faxes
  • Hygiene products or appliances
  • Kitchen faucets
  • Ladders
  • Luggage unless brand new or vintage in good shape
  • Lumber, Railings, mantels, moldings
  • Magazines
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Medical equipment or supplies of any sort
  • OPENED cans of paint, or unopened paint which is not Low VOC
  • Personal safety equipment (life vests, helmets, etc.)
  • Pools (above or below ground)

  • Swing sets, playground equipment and trampolines

Is my donation Tax Deductible?

Yes! As a 501(c)3 organization, all contributions – cash, goods, and services- are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. IRS regulations require that the donor must establish the value of donated item(s). For questions, contact your tax consultant or irs.gov.

How do I volunteer?

Our ReStore is always looking for outgoing, friendly volunteers to help out at the store. A day of volunteering might include: Greeting and assisting customers, Organizing donations and displays, Assisting at the sales counter, and Receiving donations or picking up donations on the truck.
