Ready, Set, Blitz!

It was only a few short days ago that Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties embarked on our 30th house, and first ever “Blitz Build”! This hectic and incredibly productive event was hosted by “The Crazies”- a group of Habitat volunteers that travel up and down the East coast, building houses, in record time!

The initial phases of construction on this home began in the spring, with volunteers completing Habitat’s second ICF foundation. Then, in just 48 hours (May 18th and 19th), over 400 volunteers from the community and beyond gathered to raise the walls, insulate, roof, side and nearly complete the home. This project’s success can be attributed to our various supporters, including: Telescope Casual Furniture (a well known, local company who acted as the main house sponsor, and supplied 60+ volunteers), The Crazies, our Habitat affiliate, multiple corporate groups, Barlow Electric, and- of course- an impressive horde of individual volunteers! Even some local Pizza places jumped at the chance to support the hungry masses. And still, after the Blitz has ended, people from town continue to stop by the site and offer their time to add finishing touches to the James Family’s new home.
